"New-Method" released the "Third New-Methodicist Manifesto" on September 4, 2012. This is the first Manifesto after Masaru Kaido joined as a new member. "New-Method" also had their second year anniversary on the same day.
We introduce No. 23 of our email bulletin with our works and guest contributions. In this issue we asked Manabu Matsushita for the contribution about "Third New-Methodicist Manifesto," a gallerist who has once contributed for our bulletin No. 1. At his TANA Gallery Bookshelf, Takahiro Hirama has held solo exhibitions through October 10.
New-Method released their third manifesto on September 9, 2012. New-Method has historized their activities by declaring yearly manifestos, and this third manifesto becomes a symptom of the turning point of their history.
In the first place, "New" in New-Method indicates their intrinsic transition as the history, which is consciously demonstrated in their reference to the past with "(cf.)" added in all manifestos. The first manifesto refers to Methodicism as their ancestor to declare the subject New-Method, the second manifesto refers to New-Method as the subject to tautologically define the subject, and the third manifesto refers to the tautological logic to redefine various concepts in the same manner.
The third manifesto is characterized with absence of the word "New-Method" in the declaration body. Contrary to the first and second manifestos devoted for establishing the subject New-Method, the third manifesto isolates recurring movement of tautology from the unique subject then diffuses it to various concepts, finite but exemplified as infinite, which positions the so far vaguely accepted diversity of their activities to their legitimated history. Thus, the third manifesto, finally, mediated their subject and activity dialectically.
In the form of history their constitutive logic has been revealed in stages and so far remained consistent. Yet, this third manifesto is also a symptom of "(cf.)" in the next manifesto to be placed in their entire history, whose intrinsic transition has already prepared an inevitably projected clash. Namely, historicity of the subject New-Method itself; the most fundamental paradox of New-Method and, all the more for it, their only and most dramatic moment. No matter when this first and last turning point arrives, New-Method will leave irrevertible stories as their history behind senseless tautologies, till the very moment of the indicated turn.

Long and narrow photo

I modified a photo image to make 4272 x 2848 pixels long and narrow into 31 x 29770 pixels. The image used here is AEG Turbine Factory I photographed in Berlin in 2009. Designed by Peter Behrens, the factory was completed in 1910. For appreciation of this long and narrow photo, it is not required to think about the massive appearance of AEG Turbine Factory or its value in the architectural history.
