Method in Object
ucnv (Programmer and Artist)

The word "method" is a particular term in Object Oriented Programming (OOP).  In the terminology, a method means a chunk of program.  It is executable, takes arguments, sometimes changes the situations and returns a value as the result.  Formerly it was called as function, routine or procedure. In OOP, its name suddenly changed to "method."   This particular name was required because OOP adopt the object as a data type.

In the world of programming in general, code should prospectively contain all the possible phenomena and its surrounding environments.  OOP is no exception.  In the real world, an object mutates its status and behavior in an effect of environments around it, and a method formulates itself through numerous trials and errors.  However, a method in OOP is a pre-scribed definition, with no room for trials and errors in its execution.

It is an antinomy OOP has produced within itself.  The antinomy would not have existed unless the object was set as a data type and it changed the name from "function" to "method."

Therefore OOP has generated and imported a number of techniques and mechanisms, including Closure, Reflection, Dependency Injection and AOP, so that it can handle unexpected changes of its environments.  Someday in future OOP will evolve to be able to rewrite its own method by itself to fit in the environments.  The method and the environment should be connected to each other like the motor system and the sensory system.

In many countries, the arrow symbol is commonly used to indicate directions.  With its capability of indicating directions, the symbol creates spatiality in the digital realm.  This series arranges arrow symbols according to certain rules to create spatiality visually.
