The Chinese character that means "new" symbolizes a wood cross section shopped by an axe, as the symbol includes the elements of "axe" and "wood" in its constituents.  For more than 1000 years the [Japanese] word "method" had referred [only] to ways of managing various tasks, but in Meiji period it came to also mean ways of recognize things.  In other words, the word originated to talk about how to achieve a goal, but its modern usage has included how to think too.  Modern philosophy explored [the relation of] practice and observation as a major question, but the word "method" means both of them at once, which enables it to blur the questioning itself.  It would be thrilling if some people would cleave the word "method" newly as a new cross section, yet differently from the one between practice and observation.

I was grown up in Yajuro area, in Koshigaya city of Saitama prefecture, near the Niigata [literally meaning "new direction"] river.  The homeland was part of a lost place called Niigata village that had existed from Meiji 22[1889] to Showa 29 [1954].  The river is as huge as categorized Class A [the highest rank in Japanese official classification], but its source is said to be a collection of wastewater; and in my childhood I heard that the river was made there to direct otherwise-stagnant water flooding from the Hurutone River, thus the name "Niigata," a new direction.  The story was convincing because the area would witness flooding above the floor level twice a year, but later I found the etymology was actually a fiction.  The word "law" in Buddhism means the essence of the world, but its modern usage has found totally new meanings in different fields such as legal studies, mathematics or linguistics about grammar.

Turn a roulette with 10 numbers from 0 to 9 ten thousand times and count how many times 9 appears. The probability of having 9 is 10%, which most likely appears one thousand times in total.
